Last Minute Valentine's Gift Ideas

There are only about 36 hours left before one of the most romantic days of the year is upon us. And if you are one of many who have either forgotten or procrastinated with respect to a gift for your significant other, don't fret. I have a few last minute ideas that will be sure to warm his or her heart.

Food

Quick. Get over to the grocery store and start preparing a nice dinner for two. It doesn't have to be fancy and expensive. Grab a few nice steaks or fish or lobster and have a nice home cooked meal. Or if you are more into the setting, plan on a meal-to-go (call your favorite restaurant or pizza joint in advance and order something) and drive to a favorite spot for just the two of you. If you are in a nice tropical climate like I am you can't go wrong heading over to the beach for a nice sunset dinner. Grab some wine and you are good to go. If you live in a frigid climate, prepare a nice hot bath or dive into a hottub. A nice cozy fireplace is also a nice touch as well.

Dessert

This is easy peasy. Go to the grocery store to the refrigerated foods and get a roll of chocolate chip cookie dough or brownie mix. It literally takes minutes to whip up a plate of brownies or cookies. Then head on over to any local store that sells Valentine's decorations (Party City, Michaels or Target will do)and buy a nice decorative plate for your goodies. Arrange the brownies/cookies on the plate in a nice fashion and sprinkle pink and red M&Ms and Hershey's kisses around. Wrap it up with some cellophane and you've got a winner.

Flowers

Need I say more? Flowers are a sure thing but if roses are hard to come by this late in the game or if they are really out of your price range, try a nice assorted bouquet of wild flowers. These bouquets are extremely beautiful and different than the traditional roses.

Card

Never underestimate the power of the written word. Cards go a long way but the message inside goes even further. Write something lovely and sweet and from the heart that tells him or her that you love them. Bring up a nice memory from the past and play upon that memory. If your first date was a movie, rent that same movie and watch it again. If your favorite memory had a special song in the background, download it and dance to it. Go the extra mile in thinking of some sweet memory to bring back to life.

Clean Up

This might sound unromantic but believe me it is not. Every girl loves to have her house or apartment cleaned by someone else and every guy loves to have his car detailed. Hire someone to do it or do it yourself. You will be amazed at how far this gesture will go.

There are so many simple things that you can do at the last minute for your significant other. It just takes a little bit of thought and imagination but once you dig down, you will be amazed at how far these little things can go.
